The Last Drop

After the last drop dried
She withered and sighed
Slowly turning lifeless and pale
Hiding behind her smoky veil
Her tired eyes
Longing for signs
Of relief from the scorching sun
But sadly she got none
Only impending pangs of despair
Gazing up in a sanguine stare
Prayers escaped her cracked lip
A wish for a filling sip
Of one last drop of rain
To end her gnawing pain
Her children were all dead
Agonizing death sent them to bed
She had warned them time and again
Yet they exhausted the elixir in vain
The irresponsible children
That killed their brethren
Celebrating happy days
Living with their wasteful ways
Soiled the spring of her beautiful life
Now finally ends the strife
The aftermath taking its toll
Finally killing the mother of them all
When she took her last breath
The Gods celebrated her death
From heavens fell a drop
A downpour that didn’t stop
Until it wiped clean the slate
Re-writing the mother’s fate
“Don’t worry child, you’ll live
There’s more life for you to weave”
The autumn transformed to rain
Mother Earth was alive again!

MOTHER

Your love has been an antidote

To every poison of my life

As long as I have your love & support

I can win every strife!

You were the first word I uttered when I first spoke

And I call you in every pain

Your face is what I searched for whenever I woke

You always managed to end my strain!

You are my life-support system

The artery, the blood, the vein

You are my every living organ

The spare, the extra, the main..

May be I never managed to say

Or do enough to make you realize

You always were, you’ll always be

The apple of my eyes!

MOTHER

There were thunderbolts of pain striking every muscle of her body. She couldn’t even budge. Just then, a lady in light, stern blue entered her room, and rested a lifeless little doll beside her. Just as she felt a warm breath on her arm, a feeling of calmness swept over her. The pain magically disappeared. She slowly pulled her heavy limbs upwards and tried to sit up. It was awfully difficult. But she managed doing it anyway. Slowly and carefully, she lifted up the li’l doll in her arms. It felt like an act of uttermost responsibility.A little angel sleeping in her arms..what could be a better blessing for her!  As she moved her forefinger through the baby’s little fingers.. the li’l tigthened her grip. As if she recognized her for ages, as if she knew she was her mother! The li’l princess slept peacefully, while the queen hugged and kissed her lovingly.

Love and selflessness, joy and yet pain, peace and yet anxiety, satisfaction and yet longingness…tears and yet smiles…there was too much in that one moment! Too many mixed emotions .. yet only one beautiful name..MOTHERHOOD.
