The idea of love

We often misunderstand the idea of love. It is not something you can experience in a single glimpse of a person or in a  few moments. Love is an emotion. You don’t really ever fall in love, you grow into love. You grow fonder and fonder of a person when you spend time with them.

It’s no magic or miracle. Just an emotion that can turn the world magical and miraculous. If it doesn’t involve attachment and understanding that grew with time, it’s not love. It may be  attraction, obsession, infatuation. Anything, but not love.

just a matter of perception

“I just don’t belong here. I wonder why the hell was I born in this family?!!! ” She muttered it yet again today in utter frustration.

I wish I could do something to calm her and assure her that everything is fine. To let her know that every family is imperfect. Because when people of different ages and perceptions live together and love each other immensely, they stop considering the concept of personal space and try to convince you to live your life according to their decisions and perceptions. They are not wrong, it’s just that their perception is not perfect as well. Just as yours isn’t.

Both sides just need to respect each other’s viewpoint and trust that the other’s intentions involve only care and love. Nothing else.

You can change yourself to fulfill the expectations of the one you love. Or you can stay just as you are, and let them accept you that way. The choice you make, ultimately decides the future of your existence in your future life.

You can murder your identity and then spend the rest of your life trying to find it again. Or you can nurture a healthy relationship where you and your identity are both understood and well respected.

It’s ultimately your own choice. Make it wisely.

A million emotions…. A single name

And, she smiled. After six weeks of gloominess and loneliness, she smiled at the face she saw across the room at the door. Her guardian angel had arrived. Her soul-sister. Her mirror.

Only a sight of the familiar face tore apart her gloominess . She ran across and hugged her lady in shining armour. All her pain seemed to vanish in that split-second.  She felt lighter. Better.

And suddenly, the soul sister drew herself away.  She looked her in the eye for a moment that seemed longer than eternity. Then she lifted her hand up and graced the face opposite her with a tight slap. A tear fell from her eye, but not from the pain on the cheek.

“Where were you stupid??  Why didn’t you tell me before you came here?  You have no idea how much I hate you for this!!! Who disappears for six weeks over such a trivial quarrel??? Psycho!!!  Come give me a hug now!  I missed you so bad!! Idiot!!!!”

And they forgave each other without even uttering a word of forgiveness. They clung to each other and thereafter, their bond became unbreakable, and the two friends became inseparable.

Such is the beauty of friendship. It’s a million emotions. But, just a single name!

When you first opened your eyes on the world.. they welcomed you merrily.  They laughed when you laughed, frowned when you cried.  They taught you how to walk, how to talk,  how to sit, how to eat and how to live.  They are your family. They love you, but you lie to them. You hide things from them. Your heart cries, but you still do it. You even sometimes bitch to your friends about them. You act like you dislike them. You believe they don’t understand you, and you don’t understand them.  But deep inside,  somewhere you know that the truth is otherwise. You know they have your back, that they trust you..and most importantly they love you. They are your support system and no matter what you do or what fault you commit.. they’ll ultimately forgive you. Because they are your FAMILY, where ILY depicts I Love You.
